week 11 Skills

I'm not in college for any side skills, such as self-confidence, teamwork skills, or leadership. I'm here for one reason, to gain the knowledge required of the digital forensic field so I can obtain a career after I get my degree.  I really can't go into detail about any particular thing cuz I really don't have a desire for it.  I'm not sure if it is because I'm old and grumpy, maybe it's because I'm cynical, or maybe it's because I already had some experience with those things earlier in my life. I understand that there are always improvements that can be made and the skill sets that I have, but I don't necessarily need to focus on any particular skill, because those skill sets will improve organically and naturally over time as they are used.

Final blog, Liar

"lying is a cooperative act", necessitates the purposeful making of a false declaration and the declaration being believed as true.  I'm not sure if I totally agree with her about this, while we should be cynical about some things we see or hear if it comes from someone who should be trustworthy it's not necessarily our fault if we believe it. for truth number two, I would say society is against lying but the individual is covertly for it. On the more macro scale in society, lies undermine our societal structure. For the individual, lies can be used for gain.  Some techniques to spot Liars are to be cynical and fact check. We should want to learn these techniques so we have a better understanding of the world around us.  Honesty is worth preserving, it is necessary for us to keep faith in our fellow humans.  Create societal change about lying is to first punish those who are in journalistic or governmental positions, harshly for any disinformation they spread.

week 10 college vs high school

To the highschooler looking at college, For me, college feels way different than High School.  I don't know if it's because I went to a vocational school for junior and senior years, but College seems to be a lot more laid-back experience. There were a few misrepresentations told to me by High School teachers about going to college.  The first is, that college professors we're extremely strict. There may be a few that are but in my experience, they tend to be very laid-back. The second is that you have to go to college right after high school or it's not worth going. This isn't necessarily a bad or good option, but you can always go back to school later on in life. The Third is that you need to go to college. There are many other career options out there that don't need a college degree, particularly in the skilled trades. These types of jobs are perfectly viable to make a living off of.   Sincerely, Corey

week 9 regret

I regret not staying active duty in the Marine Corps. This does follow the same "not" pattern in the video.  If I would have stayed in the Marines I could have retired in 7 years at the age of 38. There is no way to turn this around or "correct it", the opportunity has long passed.  Having regrets relate to the topic of truth and that hindsight is a bitch. Hindsight is painful, just like the truth.

week 5 Elevator

In the short film, several people assemble in a tiny elevator and begin playing their own music. The music clashes, resulting in a noisy and disturbing echo for everyone else. Then a guy comes in wearing headphones. The director's goal is to show people the importance of common courtesy. This is that if people were more courteous by wearing headphones, there would be no clashing and offensive sound from the music mixing. I believe the director targeted everyone since the world requires common decency and etiquette.  Three ways that this video can teach people about community are 1. Don't be an ass 2. Pay attention to what is going on around you 3. just listen to the elevator music like everyone else, you uncivilized fucks.

week 7 Fairytales

There were once three pig brothers who had constructed homes out of certain materials. Later on, after the houses were built, a wolf got hungry and decided to hunt the pigs. Coming to the first house, the wolf wanted to get inside but the pig wouldn't let him. the wolf noticed the house was made of straw, so the wolf blew the house down. The first pig was able to flee and join the second pig in his house. The wolf went to the house of the second pig and asked to be let in. The pigs refused to let the wolf in. The wolf noticed the house was made of sticks, so the wolf blew the house down. Both pigs bolted for the third pig's home and sheltered with their brother. Upon coming to the third pig's house, the wolf noticed it was made of wolf carcasses. The wolf decided this particular pig was not one to fuck with and left in a hurry.

Adulting is a lie

There was a time in my life when I thought that adults had their shit together. You hit 18 years old and then you automatically knew what to do. But it turns out that that doesn't happen. Granted, through my experiences, I know more now than I was a kid. I am able to keep calm in situations now that I would not have been able to handle then. That being said, I'm still the same person I was when I was 15, there was no instant change that made me grow up. I am winging it through life just like everyone else.  It's not age that allows you to handle things, it's experience. People who you think have their life figured out, because they can handle situations that you can't, might not be able to handle something that you can. There isn't really any relationship that I could have with one person be impacted by this,  but it can allow you to see that even though somebody is struggling now with a certain aspect in their life, they might be better equipped to handle ...
